Forest in Flux: Guided Walk and Talk

Westchester’s forests are facing serious challenges—from invasive vines and tree-killing pests to the growing impacts of climate change. But there’s hope. Join Westchester Land Trust’s Preserve Manager, Ben Kleist, for a 2-mile guided hike through Frederick P. Rose Preserve to learn how we’re working to restore the health of our woodlands.

Along the way, Ben will share stories of resilience and action—highlighting what’s threatening our forests and what our stewardship team is doing to fight back. Expect one steep but short hill (about 100 feet) and a small stream crossing, with plenty of stops to take in the landscape and talk forest science. Terrain includes gravel, grass, and low inclines.

Leashed dogs are welcome.

Limited street parking available. Carpooling is encouraged. Click here for Google Maps; you will see a green preserve sign by the entrance.

Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Long pants, long shirts, and closed-toed shoes required. Bring a water bottle.

There are no restrooms on site, please budget extra time if you need to stop for facilities on your way.
