Protecting Paradise in the Driftless: How the Kickapoo Valley Reserve Came to Be
The Kickapoo Valley Reserve is one of the many wonderful places in our area to explore. You can enjoy the natural world in many ways on the 8,600 acres of this unique area managed in partnership with the Ho-Chunk Nation and the State of Wisconsin. The story of how the KVR rose out of the ashes of a failed lake and dam project to become what it is today is told in Marcy West’s Protecting Paradise in the Driftless. We are so glad that Marcy, the former executive director of the KVR, will be sharing this fascinating tale at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 26, in the first-floor conference room of the Vernon County Museum and History Center.
