Walking for Fibroids Awareness Month

July is Fibroids Awareness Month. Join me and my daughter Clara Huff as we lead this walk in honor of this medical condition that impacts the lives of thousands of Black women.

What is extra special about this walk is that I am a Fibroids Survivor. On July 19, 2017, I had a partial hysterectomy to remove five fibroids from my uterus - one as large as a grapefruit. The journey of discovering that I had them to the executive decision to have them removed inspired my book, “F is for Fibroids: The Letter of the Alphabet I’ll Never Forget”. I will be reading excerpts during the event.

We will meet up at 10 am in front of the women’s bathroom and walk one full time around the park. Once we get back to our starting point, we will do the “Victory Bridge” and take part in additional fellowship.
