Galatea Faculty Concert: Mendelssohn & Shostakovich (VB)

Presented by Galatea Chamber Music, this faculty string quartet performance at 3:00 PM concludes our annual New Wave Chamber Music Week—a program that brings young musicians together for a week of mentorship, rehearsal, and growth.

The afternoon begins with a student concert at 1:30 PM, followed by the faculty concert at 3:00 PM, featuring works by Mendelssohn and Shostakovich. Both performances are free and open to all, celebrating the spirit of collaboration and the power of chamber music to inspire across generations.

Galatea Chamber Music is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. While admission is free, donations are encouraged and help support future programs. All contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

The ensemble features violinists Hoorig Poochikian and Johnathan Spence, violist Dave Phillips, and cellist Emma Hays Johnson. With a dedication to musical excellence and creative collaboration, Galatea Chamber Music connects with a wide range of audiences through innovative outreach efforts and provides free concerts each year to enhance accessibility in the realm of chamber music, ensuring it reaches everyone.
