Patchwork Pathways is a structured 10-week beginner quilting class series designed to teach essential quilt blocks and guide students through the process of creating a lap quilt from start to finish. This class is designed as a progressive learning experience, with each session building on the previous one.
What You’ll Learn
- Learn foundational quilt blocks step by step
- Improve cutting accuracy and piecing consistency
- Build confidence using basic quilting techniques
- Understand how individual blocks come together in a quilt
- Begin and progress through assembling a lap quilt
Block instruction includes:
- Class 1: 4-Patch Block
- Class 2: 9-Patch Block
- Class 3: Half Square Triangles
- Class 4: Pinwheel Block
- Class 5: Rail Fence
- Class 6: Stitch & Flip and Square-in-a-Square
- Classes 7–10: Lap quilt assembly

- True beginners to quilting
- Confident beginners looking for a guided, start-to-finish experience
- Students who want structured instruction and consistent progress
- Basic sewing machine knowledge is required.

Supply List
- Sewing machine: Prior knowledge required: threading the machine, winding and inserting a bobbin. Please bring your owner’s manual.
- Extra machine needles (Size 80/12)
- Bobbins
- Thread
- Scissors
- Seam ripper
- Pins or clips (thin pins preferred)
- Pin cushion, magnetic dish, or small box (to hold pins or clips)
- Marking tool of choice
- Rotary cutter
- 6½" × 24" ruler or 6" × 24" ruler

- 1 yard focus fabric
- 1 yard contrasting fabric
- 1 yard background fabric
- ½ yard binding fabric
- 3½ yards backing fabric
- 3-ring binder
- Writing pencil or pen
