Kalėdos jau visai ant nosies, o sociokine tvyro mandarinų kvapas! Paskutiniame šio sezono sociokine kviečiame kartu žiūrėti rež. Seano Bakerio filmą „Tangerine“ (2015). 🍊
Veiksmas vyksta Los Andžele, Kalėdų išvakarėse. Pagrindinės filmo veikėjos – dvi translytės sekso darbuotojos Sin-Dee Rella ir Alexandra. Išėjusi iš kalėjimo, Sin-Dee Rella sulaukia ne itin malonios Kalėdų dovanėlės – sužino apie vaikino išdavystę. Įsiutusi ir pasiryžusi viską išsiaiškinti, ji leidžiasi į chaotišką, bet nuotaikingą kelionę po miesto pakraščius.
Filmas „Tangerine“ (2015) unikalus tuo, kad buvo nufilmuotas vien tik „iPhone 5s“ telefonais. Šis techninis sprendimas sukūrė dinamišką, dokumentikai artimą estetiką, kuri puikiai atspindi Los Andželo paraštėse tvyrančią energiją. Filmas išsiskiria autentišku trans bendruomenės vaizdavimu – pagrindinius vaidmenis atlieka realios translytės moterys, o jų istorijos paremtos tikromis patirtimis. „Gatvės“ stiliaus pasakojimas, natūralūs dialogai, chaotiškas miesto ritmas ir nuoširdus humoras sukuria žavią tragikomediją, kurią sunku tapatinti su tradicine Holivudo produkcija.

Christmas is just around the corner, and the smell of tangerines is in the air! For the last Sociokinas of the season, we invite you to watch Sean Baker's film Tangerine (2015). 🍊
The film is set in Los Angeles on Christmas Eve. The main characters are two transgender sex workers, Sin-Dee Rella and Alexandra. After being released from prison, Sin-Dee Rella receives a not-so-pleasant Christmas gift—she learns that her boyfriend has cheated on her. Enraged and determined to get to the bottom of things, she embarks on a chaotic but entertaining journey through the outskirts of the city.
The film Tangerine (2015) is unique in that it was shot entirely on iPhone 5s phones. This technical solution created a dynamic, documentary-like aesthetic that perfectly reflects the energy of the Los Angeles suburbs. The film stands out for its authentic portrayal of the trans community – the main roles are played by real trans women, and their stories are based on real experiences. The street-style narrative, natural dialogue, chaotic city rhythm, and sincere humor create a charming tragicomedy that is difficult to equate with traditional Hollywood productions.
The screening will take place on the 10th of December, 2025, in room 306 of the VU Faculty of Philosophy. The doors will open at 6:00 p.m., and the screening will begin at 6:30 p.m.
