SENNY CAMARA - laukinės laisvės kerėtoja

Senny Camara – tarsi retas laisvės paukštis Afrikos danguje: ištikima tradicijoms, bet kartu jas ir laužanti. Ji – keturių senųjų Afrikos tautų – sererų, mandinkų, fulbių ir lebų – palikuonė, gimusi didmiestyje, bet užauginta miško gilumoje močiutės – gydytojos ir žolininkės. Senny yra ne tik mistinės išminties nešėja, bet ir išskirtinė menininkė su unikaliu muzikiniu pojūčiu.
Nepaisydama jokių taisyklių, ji pamilo ir pradėjo groti tradiciniu styginiu instrumentu kora, kuris iki tol buvo laikomas tik vyrų instrumentu – ir dabar ji groja juo ko gero geriau nei bet kas pasaulyje.
Senny įkūnija Juodojo žemyno garsus, kvapus, laisvę ir tradicijas – nė vienas, kas ją išgirs, neliks abejingas.

The “Orient” Festival, in collaboration with GM Gyvai, presents two powerful African music concerts at St. Catherine's Church:
Roots in Africa!
🔸 August 18 – Senny Camara (Senegal)
🔸 August 20 – Burkina Azza (Burkina Faso)

Senny Camara – a rare bird of freedom from the African sky who is traditional to the core and yet again, defies all traditions. Descendant of four ancient African nations – Serer, Mandinka, Fulani and Lebou –, born in a big city, but brought up in the deepest of forest by her grandmother, a healer and medicine woman, she is both a worthy bearer of the mystical wisdom as well as a brilliant artist with unique musicality. Contrary to all rules, she fell in love with and consequently took to playing a traditional string instrument kora that until then had only been played by men and she does so better than anyone else in the world.
Senny embodies the sounds, smells, freedom and traditions of the Black Continent and no one that happens to hear her will be left unmoved.
