Rugsėjo 4 d. 18 val. galerijoje (AV17) atidaroma personalinė Mindaugo Šnipo paroda „Skulptūros“.
Mindaugas Šnipas – Lietuvoje ir už jos ribų pripažintas skulptorius, savo kūryba tęsiantis ilgai brandintą stilių bei savitą raišką. Ilgametėje Lietuvos medinės skulptūros tradicijoje Šnipo kūriniai figūruoja kaip daugiaprasmiai, minimalistiniai tašyto, sendinto medžio objektai. Menininko darbai žinomi dėl rastų objektų ir skulptūrinių elementų jungimo, kas sukuria savotišką paradoksą.
Ankstyvoji Šnipo kūryba pasižymėjo kameriniu formatu ir tauriąja, griežtų savybių medžiaga – bronza, atspindinčia vyresniųjų kolegų įtaką ir to meto formaliąsias nuostatas. Palaipsniui skulptoriaus kūriniai įgavo idėjinio tūrio bei kintančios forminės raiškos, šalia bronzos buvo naudojamas akmuo ir medis. Nors ir glaudžiai susiję su archajiškumu ir lietuviška tradicija, šios medžiagų grubios savybės atsiskleidė per kūrybinio proceso, idėjos pėdsakus.
Parodoje „Skulptūros“ tęsiami Šnipo kūrybos motyvai – naujai ir seniau sukurtos medinės skulptūros suteikia galimybę žiūrovams artimiau susipažinti su menininką dominančiomis temomis bei jų išraiškos priemonėmis. Šnipas pristato egzistencinio turinio kupinus kūrinius, nagrinėjančius kūrybai būdingą laiko kaitą ir svarbą, realybės suvokimą, ribą tarp meno ir nemeno. Parodoje didelę reikšmę turi asociacijos, formalios kalbos paradoksai, kviečiantys žiūrovą aktyviai įsitraukti į prasmės konstravimo procesą. Redukuodamas skulptūros sampratą menininkas domisi rastų, minimalistinių objektų santykiais erdvėje arba pačia erdve, kurioje objektai praranda savo svarbą ir prasmę. Šnipo skulptūriniai objektai, nors ir dvelkia kasdienybe, reprezentuoja ir kvestionuoja įvairius kontekstus bei mūsų suvokiamus tikrovės, laiko lygmenis meditaciniame fone. Objektai atrodo pažįstami, bet jų funkcija lieka neišspręsta ir kartu nebereikšminga – šis bruožas provokuoja tylų, introspektyvų žiūrovo susidūrimą su kūriniu. Grubi medžio faktūra ir figūros suponuoja nerežisuotą estetiką bei leidžia formoms kalbėti už save – apie laiko tėkmę, realybės plotmes, o galiausiai ir savirefleksiją.

On September 4th at 6 PM, the personal exhibition of Mindaugas Šnipas, “Sculptures”, will open at the (AV17) gallery.
Mindaugas Šnipas – a sculptor recognised both in Lithuania and abroad, whose work continues a long-developed style and distinctive mode of expression. Within Lithuania's long-standing tradition of wooden sculpture, Šnipas's creations stand out as multi-layered, minimalist objects of chiselled, aged wood. His works are known for the combination of found objects and sculptural elements, which generates a peculiar sense of paradox.
Šnipas's early artistic practice was marked by chamber-sized works in a noble yet austere material – bronze – reflecting the influence of senior colleagues and the formal attitudes of that period. Gradually, his sculptures acquired greater conceptual weight and a shifting formal expression, alongside bronze incorporating stone and wood. Although closely linked to archaism and Lithuanian tradition, the rough qualities of these materials were revealed through traces of the creative process and of the idea itself.
The exhibition Sculptures continues the motifs of Šnipas's art – newly created and earlier wooden works allow viewers to engage more closely with the themes and means of expression that preoccupy the artist. Šnipas presents works infused with existential content, probing time and its significance – notions central to his practice – as well as perceptions of reality and the boundary between art and non-art. Associations and paradoxes of formal language play a significant role in the exhibition, inviting viewers to actively participate in constructing meaning. By reducing the concept of sculpture, the artist explores the relationships between found, minimalist objects within space – or space itself – where objects lose their importance and meaning.
Šnipas's sculptural objects, though redolent of everyday life, simultaneously represent and question different contexts and the layers of reality and time as we perceive them, all against a meditative backdrop. The objects appear familiar, yet their function remains unresolved and, at the same time, irrelevant – a quality that provokes a quiet, introspective encounter between viewer and work. The raw texture of the wood and the figures suggest an uncontrived aesthetic and allow the forms to speak for themselves – about the flow of time, the dimensions of reality, and ultimately, self-reflection.
Mindaugas Šnipas’ exhibition “Sculptures” will be on view until October 9th at the (AV17) gallery, located at Totorių St. 5, Vilnius.
