Why is Joninės special in Lithuania?Celebrated during the summer solstice, Joninės (Saint John’s Eve) is one of the oldest and most cherished holidays in Lithuania. Rooted in nature-based traditions, this festival honors the power of nature, the sun, and the cycles of life. It’s a night of bonfires, songs, rituals, fern blossom quests, and mythical tales – a time when magic feels real.
