Open Readings is proud to continue its tradition of hosting a Special Event for the fourth year in a row. This year, in celebration of the International Day of Light, we invite you to a unique interdisciplinary discussion titled "Beyond the Visible: Linking Thoughts on Light."
Light is not only a cornerstone of modern physics, but also a powerful symbol in philosophy, theology, and psychology. This conversation seeks to expand our understanding of light - together, experts from diverse disciplines will explore light through multiple lenses: its dual nature in physics; symbolic and theological significance; the deeper meanings it carries in our understanding of the world.
Speakers include:
• Prof. Dr. Srirang Manohar, Professor and Chair of Multi-Modality Medical Imaging (M3I) at the University of Twente, the Netherlands. He brings a deep scientific perspective on how we utilize and understand light in cutting-edge technologies.
• Dr. Naglis Kardelis, philosopher, philologist, and professor at Vilnius University. He is known for his work on the dialogue between the sciences and the humanities.
• Dr. Dovydas Banevičius, physicist at Vilnius University. His research focuses on organic optoelectronics.
• Benas Ulevičius, dean of the Faculty of Catholic Theology at Vytautas Magnus University. He brings a unique perspective on light as a spiritual and symbolic concept.
🎙 Moderated by Laisvūnas Čekavičius, educator at the National Museum of Lithuania’s Castellan’s House and doctoral candidate.
