In the second concert of our 2025 edition, the Victoria Summer Music Festival is pleased to present Arin Sarkissian, David Boutin-Bourque, and Paul Williamson in a programme featuring music by Guillaume Connesson, Claude Debussy, Lili Boulanger, Frank Martin, Edwin Schulhoff, Denis Gougeon, Sergei Vasilenko, and Jon Kimura Parker.
Arin Sarkissian, principal flutist with the Victoria Symphony, will be performing at VSMF alongside his clarinet counterpart, David Boutin-Bourque, and pianist Paul Williamson. Arin won first prize in last year's Canada Council for the Arts' Michael Measures Prizes.
Local audiences will remember David's virtuosity from his performances at VSMF 2024, Eine Kleine Summer Music, and as soloist in Carl Nielsen’s Clarinet Concerto with the Victoria Symphony last fall.
Winner of first prize at the 2014 Canadian National Music Festival and the 2017 Canadian Federation of Music Teachers’ Association National Piano Competition, in 2023 Paul recorded his debut solo album featuring the music of Franz Liszt for Naxos Records.
Arin and Paul have both featured on CBC's "30 Hot Canadian Classical Musicians under 30" list and were selected jointly for the 2023/2024 IMAGINE Arts Incubator, from which an album "Evocations" is forthcoming.
