You're warmly invited to join the opening reception on June 19 (Thursday), 5–9pm at 750 Fairfield Rd, Victoria.

Words from Rainy Huang on "The Rhythms: Past, Present, Future":
"This exhibition explores the shifting rhythms of intergenerational memory and cultural continuity. Featuring hand-etched plexiglass, LED lighting, and layered transparency, the work reveals how past, present, and future overlap in fragile yet resilient ways. At its center is a Chinese bowl - a vessel of memory, belonging, and transformation. Through light, shadow, and reflection, I trace familial ties and cultural fragments carried across time and place."

About Rainy Huang:
"Rainy Huang (b. 1994, Guangzhou, China) is a multidisciplinary artist based between Vancouver and Victoria. Her work explores intergenerational memory, cultural transmission, and the emotional rhythms within familial relationships. Through installation, video, and material-based processes, she reflects on how personal and cultural histories are carried forward across generations.
A recurring symbol in her recent work is the Chinese bowl - an everyday object reimagined as a vessel of care, memory, and continuity. Through hand-etched plexiglass, light, sound, and weaving, she transforms traditional motifs into sculptural forms that reflect themes of belonging and transformation.
Huang holds an MFA from the University of Victoria (2025), a BDes from Emily Carr University of Art + Design (2020), and a Certificate in Interior Design from BCIT (2023). 'The Rhythms: Past, Present, Future', presented at the Ministry of Casual Living in Victoria, marked her first solo exhibition outside an academic context and a significant milestone in her professional practice. She is the 2024 recipient of the Audain Travel Award and recently completed a research residency in Jingdezhen, China."
