🧡 Satya: A Practice of Truth & Reconciliation 🧡 with Shireen Banaee
September 30th marks Orange Shirt Day, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation - a time for truth-telling, listening, and honouring the children who never came home, the survivors and intergenerational survivors of the residential school system.
Inspired by the teachings and strengths of the circle, our individual and collective journeys of Truth and Reconciliation are ongoing. This path is not a destination, but a lifelong commitment to reflection, learning, and understanding.
Join us for an evening of nourishment through accessible pranayama, mantra and sound, and reflect on the second Yama in the 8 Limbs of Yoga: Satya, meaning “truthfulness”.
Pranayama breathwork and mantra will lay the foundation of our shared journey. You’ll be guided through soothing Restorative shapes all while immersed in a sound bath featuring crystal bowls, drum, rattle and other instruments.
This class is accessible and by donation, with 100% of proceeds going to the Indian Residential School Survivors Society (IRSSS).

Participants are encouraged to spend September 30th at the South Island Powwow, taking time to learn the history and lived experiences of Indigenous peoples, or to practice self-care.
