Exploring Opus Brushes with Steve Chmilar

This demonstration featuring Opus Brushes will focus on edges, which are the most distinctive part of any painting. Edges are like our signature; while there are a few common types, there is no limit to how unique our individual brushwork can make our paintings appear. Steve will show examples from his own paintings as well as high-resolution photo references.

With a structured and measured approach, we can break down even the most complex paintings into edge studies, almost like an anatomical lab test for an image. If we learn how to replicate one edge through a small exercise, we can master the entire painting.

In this 15-minute, drop-in activity, participants will have the opportunity to try featured materials and experiment with finding their unique brush edge signature.
