Nouveau Funk brings its New Orleans inspired gritty, funky-to-its-core sound featuring intricate eight instrument (four horn) arrangements back to theaters and festivals BC with its second season of shows, providing a taste of New Orleans to enthusiastic audiences once again.
For Halloween this Year Nouveau Funk has been cooking up a reimagining of the greatest selling album off all time: Michael Jackson's Thriller!
What do they mean by a "reimagining"? While they leave about 80-90% of the essence of the original tunes untouched, the remainder is set aside for an expansion of instrumentation, a modernization of technology, and the band's own innovation on these classics, providing a novel experience that showcases these tunes in an incredibly familiar, yet simultaneously unique way.
Matching the singing and dancing style of Michael Jackson is a daunting task, but what makes Thriller such a unique and time-capsule worthy listening experience isn't just Michael Jackson, but the depth and incredible quality to each and every song on this album which Nouveau Funk honors and celebrates. This album literally does not have a single bad tune on it!
The first performance of this reimagining will be at the Longhorn Pub in Vernon, with a pre-theatre run Halloween party where you can strut your costumes and shake your booties making this day not just a day for our beloved trick or treaters!
What is more Halloween than Thriller, and what is more fun than combining the two together? Nouveau Funk will also bring to the party a funkified version of Ghostbusters and some other Halloween related surprises.
