SPLASH Finalist! Black and Blue is a raw, heartfelt solo performance that explores what it means to be Black in America—through the eyes and voices of four unforgettable characters.

A bitter elder. A fiery radical. A weary Black cop. A wide-eyed child.

Each voice wrestles with the same questions: How do you live, love, and survive in a world that sees your skin before your soul?

Written and performed by Jamar Gilbert, and directed under the artistic eye of Kayla Raelle, this award winning show invites audiences of all backgrounds into an honest, human conversation about race, identity, and the struggle to belong. It’s not about blame—it’s about understanding.

At once poetic, powerful, and deeply personal, Black and Blue offers a window into the Black American experience—and a mirror for all of us to reflect on who we are, how we listen, and how we move forward together.
