IOW Biosphere with Martha Henson

Did you know that the Isle of Wight is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, part of the same UNESCO family as World Heritage Sites and Geoparks? We won this prestigious status in 2019, and become one of only 7 Biosphere Reserves in the UK.

Join us for this talk on what makes island nature so special and how important our communities are to that, how and why we won Biosphere Reserve status, and what it means for us all. Learn about the rare species that share the land and sea with us, the unique mix of habitats and landscapes that make up our environment, our role in the wider movement to tackle climate change and the incredible work that goes on here in sustainability and conservation. We’ll also discuss the challenges we face and how we can all work together with our Biosphere status to conserve and enhance what we have.
