What is PBU?
Plant-Based Universities is a student-led campaign that calls on universities to adopt 100% just and sustainable plant-based catering.
Why?
Because the production of animal products is one of the biggest drivers of the climate crisis. By shifting to plant-based meals, universities can dramatically reduce their climate impact while promoting healthier, more sustainable choices.
Why LNU?
Linnaeus University has committed to cutting its CO₂ emissions by 50% per full-time student by 2030 (compared to 2019).
In its Climate Action Plan, LNU highlights the significant consumption of food and provisions at events, and that by choosing “climate-smart food and beverages”, the university can make a big difference. The plan also sets goals to ensure that all university-organized events meet “sustainable event” standards.
What students can do?
By launching PBU at LNU, we’re bringing student voices to the table and pushing for concrete action: ensuring that campus events, catering, and discussions with restaurants on site reflect the urgent need for plant-based, low-carbon solutions.
