Join artist and instructor Kathy Downs on Saturday, Sept. 6th from 9:30 to 11:00 for a fun and creative introduction to the art of pointillism!
What is Pointillism? It's a painting technique created by the French artist George Seurat. Using the point of a brush brushes to make tiny marks that make shapes and blend colors instead of mixing color and using brush strokes.
In this engaging workshop, students will plan their design, choose their color palette, and learn the step-by-step process of creating a painting using tiny, colorful dots.
Each student will complete one 8” x 10” pointillism painting, ready to frame—and will leave with their finished masterpiece already framed and ready to display at home.
A perfect blend of creativity, color, and art history for young artists!
Kathy Downs discovered her passion for glass art in 2011 when she and her family moved to the Quantico, VA area. Initially her small glass pieces were unique gifts for family and friends but as her collection and skills grew, she started selling her glass to fund her "glass" habit! She now creates both large and small fused glass in her home-based studio and with 38 years of eduction experience, she is excited to teach and mentor aspiring artists through her classes at ARTworks Vass!
Important Information:
Beginners are welcome.
School Aged Children, who follow instructions well and can work and function relatively independently in the classroom and bathroom are welcome to attend.
Adults are not permitted to register as a student in this class unless registering and attending with the child or children. (Grab your favorite kiddo and join us!)
For the safety of all involved, we require that Children be dropped-off and picked-up with their instructor in the classroom, and street or parking lot pickups are be permitted.
Children may bring a snack and a drink with a lid to class.
Registration allows for one Guest per class project.
Only Registered Guests may attend class.
Registrations are non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled.
Class starts promptly on time.
Dress to mess or bring an apron.
