Join us on Tuesday, August 26th, 2025 at the Saik’uz Band Office for Overdose Awareness Day & Sobriety Walk. This gathering is a time to come together as a community to acknowledge the impact of addiction, honour loved ones we've lost, and walk in support of healing, sobriety, and understanding.
The day will begin at 9:00 AM with a continental breakfast, naloxone training, bracelet and sign making, and other wellness activities. We invite everyone to wear purple, the official colour for overdose awareness, to help show your support.
At 11:30 AM, we’ll begin our community walk, starting from the Band Office and continuing along a route led by leadership. After the walk, we’ll return for a BBQ lunch around 12:30 PM.
As part of the day, we’ll have a community display of photos shared by families to honour loved ones affected by addiction-related trauma—including overdose, suicide, and other forms of loss. This display is a visual reminder of the pain we carry and the love that endures.
This event is open to everyone. We come together in grief, in strength, and in the hope for healing.
