Join us as we rally around a true hero, veteran, retired police officer and Vandalia dispatcher — Colin Ledbetter.
In January 2022, Colin was shot multiple times in the line of duty while apprehending a murder suspect. His injuries were catastrophic, and at one point his heart stopped before doctors at Barnes Hospital miraculously brought him back to life.
Over the past four years, Colin has faced ongoing medical challenges stemming from that day. On February 16, 2026, he suffered a critical blood clot that led to the amputation of his left leg above the knee.
Through every setback, Colin has remained unwavering in his faith and positivity. He believes this is part of God’s plan for his life and continues to use his story to encourage and serve others — especially fellow first responders. His resilience, courage, and heart for people continue to inspire everyone around him.
Now it’s our turn to stand beside him.
