Join artist Yoko Tomita for a magical lantern-making workshop celebrating the plants and animals of the wetlands! Whether you're young, young-at-heart, or somewhere in between, this is a fun, all-ages activity perfect for friends, families—and especially grandparents and grandkids.

🎨 What to Expect:

• Step-by-step guidance from Yoko Tomita, a lantern-making artist with 20+ years of experience
• Choose your project:
• 🔹 Jar lanterns – simple and fun for any skill level
• 🔹 Box lanterns – a great option for those who want a bit more of a creative challenge!
• All materials provided—just bring your imagination!
• Create a beautiful lantern to carry in the Twilight Lantern Procession on October 4

No experience needed. Just come ready to get creative and have fun!

Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

Yoko Tomita is a community artist who has worked in the Renfrew-Collingwood Neighbourhood for over 20 years. She has been actively involved with Collingwood Neighbourhood House, Renfrew Park Community Centre, and the Renfrew Ravine Moon Festival. She has facilitated countless community art classes and community-engaged art projects during that time, including several mosaics and murals in the Renfrew-Collingwood neighbourhood.

• Age: All ages welcome. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

• The closest bus stop is NB Boyd Diversion @ E 22 Ave.
• Limited street parking is available.
• We recommend walking, taking the bus, riding your bike, or carpooling when possible.

• Washrooms are available.
• There is seating available.

The Renfrew Ravine Moon Festival and all of Still Moon Arts' programming take place on the unceded territories of Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) and xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations.

A fusion of art, nature, and community, this month-long festival celebrates the Harvest Moon, Still Creek, local art, and the diverse cultural traditions of the Renfrew-Collingwood neighbourhood. Still Moon Arts Society mobilizes community and creates positive change through eco-arts and environmental stewardship programming, and produces the annual Renfrew Ravine Moon Festival.
