About the event

Using Minimum Wages to Fight Inequality and Poverty
In 2020, Florida voters approved an amendment to raise the state’s minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2026. Across the country, other states and cities have debated or enacted similar increases, with some even proposing $30 an hour. What do economists know about the effects of raising the minimum wage? David Neumark, Professor of Economics at UC Irvine and one of the world’s foremost experts on the subject, will discuss the latest research on the impacts of minimum wage policy and what it means for workers, employers, and opportunity.
