Tree Canada, in collaboration with the Stanley Park Ecology Society, is excited to celebrate National Tree Day (NTD), presented by BMO! This is the biggest NTD celebration yet, with events taking place across the country during National Forest Week.
Join us in Stanley Park to participate in invasive species removal and an educational forest walk.
Participants will be split into approximately 3 groups:Two groups will head to work sites near Beaver Lake and one group will join a guided nature walk
Tree Canada experts and experienced volunteers will be there to support you and answer your questions. We’ll provide gloves and tools—just bring your enthusiasm!
This free event will support local biodiversity through the removal of invasive plant species in the Beaver Lake watershed, a key ecological area within Stanley Park. Invasive species represent the second greatest threat to biodiversity across the globe, and removing these invasive plants will aid the regeneration of native plant species in the watershed, while also preparing the area for future restoration planting. Volunteers will contribute directly to habitat restoration while learning about the local environment.
