SongRise Improv Choir – Be part of a Spontaneous Singing Event!

SongRise Improv Choir is a joyful experience of spontaneous singing. There are no songs to learn – all the music is improvised. Laurel Murphy is your guide, leading the group in vocal grooves, rhythms and harmonies— your voice is the instrument! We stand in a circle, feeling the rhythm in our bodies, stepping in time and singing layered patterns with chant-like repetition. The music may have jazz, blues, world or experimental influences, inspired by the moment.

There will also be vocal warmups, and guided group explorations. You'll be amazed by what we create together! This an adult choir 16+ open to all singers, beginner to professional, who want to try something different, connect with others and have fun. A basic sense of rhythm and pitch is recommended. Bring drinking water. Please stay home if you are sick or symptomatic.

• You are also welcome to sign up for any of the regular paid sessions of SongRise Improv Choir that run Tuesdays in Kitsilano starting September 9th.

**This event will be filmed to hopefully gather some clips and photos to promote the choir (which we dearly need!) Attending the event means you agree to be included in this if we happen to get some good footage. Please email us with any questions or concerns!
