Sir James Douglas Chief Trader of the Columbia District

Join us to hear about the life of Sir James Douglas, Chief Trader on the Columbia River, headquartered at Fort Vancouver for many years. Born in the Caribbean to a Creole mother and a Scots father, Douglas was educated in Scotland but did not live with his father. Douglas rose through the fur trading ranks of the HBC and eventually became the "Father of British Columbia."

Presentation is given by our Supervisory Ranger Aaron Ochoa.
