Meadow Work Bee

What better way to celebrate the Equinox than creating habitat for wild bees? Guided by a certified Pollinator Steward, participants will:

• learn about native bees and their life cycles
• implement best practices in meadow maintenance
• build new habitat for stem- and ground-nesting bees

Through experiential learning, participants will come away with an understanding of how to integrate native bees’ complex life cycles into garden/ landscape maintenance. With some knowledge, we can skilfully enhance conditions for wild bees and other pollinators to flourish!

All are welcome. Whether you're a seasoned bee lover, or just looking to lend a hand, this Meadow Work Bee will be fun, educational and rewarding in equal measure. It’s a great way to learn, to meet ‘beeple’ and enjoy fresh air, while making a real difference in the (bee) community. Bring your energy and let's make the meadow shine!

Your instructor, Christine Thuring, co-created the meadow opposite Point Grey Park in Feb. 2024 with the City of Vancouver and continues to steward it with Green Streets. Learn about it here.
