Happy birthday to drummer "Papa" Jo Jones, born October 7, 1911, the defining drummer of the Swing Era! He formed the legendary "all-American rhythm section" with Count Basie on keys, guitarist Freddie Green and bassist Walter Page. Jones was one of the first drummers to promote the use of brushes on drums, and to shift the role of timekeeping from the bass drum to the hi-hat cymbal.

• FREE for Intro to Swing students • $5 for all other RCP students
• $10 at the door. No one turned away for lack of funds.
• Free admission if you've never danced before - bring your friends!
• Volunteers always dance for free, sign up for a shift at the door!
A portion of our revenue goes to payyourrent.ca, a multi-nation Indigenous-led project to receive payment from settlers. Our classes and events take place on the stolen land of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations.
