Karin Plato is a Juno nominated jazz vocalist and recording artist. She has performed throughout Canada and in the western USA for concert societies and at jazz festivals. She works as a composer, arranger and music educator. She has three times been nominated Canadian Jazz Vocalist of the Year at the National Jazz Awards and she is a West Coast Music Award nominee. Karin has released nine independent recordings of jazz and blues standards and her original songs. She came to jazz almost by accident. The music she heard in her formative years was the rock and pop music of the day and the classical music she studied from a young age. She didn’t get the “jazz bug” until she was in her early 30’s and that’s when her music career really began when she made the move from central Canada to the West Coast.
At Apollo’s Karin will be joined by two of Vancouver’s acclaimed jazz players: Geoff Claridge on clarinet and bass clarinet and guitarist Josh Roberts. The trio have performed together several times presenting the music of Jimmy Giuffre however this time they will delve into swing, bossa and blues standards from the 30’s, 40’s and beyond.

Apollo's (formerly Tangent Café) hosts regular weekly evening jazz shows on Thursdays 7-9:30PM, and Fridays and Saturdays 7:30-10PM
