Listen to the Poem is an elevated artistic experience curated by one of the biggest names in spoken word poetry. The event features 20 minute sets from 3 amazing poets and is hosted by Rudy Francisco. Our goal is to provide another platform where poets can be seen, heard and appreciated

Meet the poets:

Raven Makale is a poet, spoken word artist, and creative leader from Cleveland, Ohio. She merges artistry and leadership to create spaces that amplify authentic voices. Raven is the 76th Miss Central State University and a two-time graduate, earning both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Business Administration. Raven has organized, facilitated, and performed at artistic events across universities, nonprofits, and businesses. Her performances are celebrated for their passion and depth, inspiring audiences to reflect, heal, and envision new possibilities.

Mixxed Rose is an artist whose work blooms at the intersection between softness and strength. As a Cleveland Ohio native, her voice is influenced by honesty, discovery, and imagination.

Damien McClendon is an award-winning poet from Youngstown, OH. He holds an MFA in creative writing from Columbia University and his work has been published in Indiana Review, POETRY Magazine, Teachers and Writers Magazine and elsewhere. From 2018-2020 He was the Poet Laureate of Cleveland Heights
