Supported by 𝐔𝐍 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧, 𝐔𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐂𝐎 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐊𝐨𝐜̧-𝐊𝐀𝐌, Olive, a poetic documentary by 𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐫 𝐊ı𝐯ı𝐥𝐜ı𝐦 𝐀𝐤𝐚𝐲 now based in Malta, will be featured in the third edition of 𝐂𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐬.
The film brings together the physical labour of woman olive producers from three different regions of Turkey with performance art. It explores realities such as sustainability, 𝐰𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧'𝐬 𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐬 within the unique bond women have with nature. The olive tree emerges as a shared symbol of continuity, resilience and memory along the shores of the Mediterranean.
After the screening, there will be a 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐐&𝐀 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐟 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐠𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚 𝐠𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 around the film’s themes. Anyone interested in the Mediterranean, its people and its future is welcome to join. 🌿
