On the 17th of July Vaasa museums organize a Dungeons & Dragons session at the Ostrobothnian Museum from 15.15 to 17.00. The D&D session is based on the Vaasa 400 –exhibition, which explores the long history of Vaasa from the 17th century to the present day. In this one-shot campaign players get to unravel
the mysteries of medieval and magical Vaasa, where a woman is accused of witchcraft when a knight is found dead. The party must work together to figure out what happened that faithful night.
Dungeons & Dragons, or more casually D&D, is a roleplaying game invented in the 1960’s in the United States. In D&D, the players known as a party get to roleplay and explore an imaginary magical world by working together with the help of the game master, who narrates the story. Your game master, as usual, is
Sakke, who works at the museum for the summer.
This D&D session is for English-speaking people from 16 years-old and up. You don’t have to have any experience with D&D or any supplies; the museum will provide you with a character, dice to borrow and writing supplies. You also don’t have to know anyone from before the session, we will form a new party for
the adventure from the participants of the session.
To attend the session, you must pay the entrance fee for the Ostrobothnian museum, which is 14€ for adults, 8€ for students and pensioners, and free for underage people. You can also join by using your Museum Card.
You must sign up for the session by sending an email to
c2FyYSAhIGtvcnBpbGFodGkgfCB2YWFzYSAhIGZp, where you can also ask any questions that come to mind about the D&D session.
Some things to note:
• The Ostrobothnian museum closes at 17.00, so if you want to explore the museum during your visit you have to do so before the D&D session starts at 15.15.
• This D&D story is the same one as last summer, so if you were at last year's session, keep that in mind! It doesn’t prevent you from joining but might affect your experience.
• The summer workshop of the week (in finnish & swedish) is held right before the D&D session at the Ostrobothnian museum from 14.00 to 15.15, so if you want to fill your summer day with creative activities, show up for that too
