What is a Mini Forest?
A mini forest is a densely planted community of native trees and plants in a small area the size of a tennis court. Mini forests grow faster, sequester more carbon, and promote more biodiversity than conventionally planted urban trees.
Thanks to a group of community volunteers, the site at the Fields of Uxbridge was prepared in July 2025 by laying down cardboard, spreading compost and mulch. These materials have been settling over the last few months, creating a nutrient-rich site for the 600 trees and shrubs to be planted on November 1, 2025.
What will we be doing?
You'll be helping us plant 600 native trees and shrubs.
Note: This is a physical activity with some jobs that may require lifting materials up to 10kg - please be aware of your limitations.
What to wear and bring:
Shovels and light refreshments will be provided, but feel free to bring your own if you'd like.
Let's work together to make our community greener and more beautiful. See you there!
