Join us for a GORUCK Crawford County event featuring an extremely festive ruck with a rather obnoxiously merry stop at the Fliers to shower them with Christmas cheer, a few gifts, and a big dose of love and encouragement! THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS TOO FESTIVE WHEN CONSIDERING YOUR WARDROBE!!
For those of you who may not be aware, the Fliers have spent the better part of a quarter of a year in and out of Children's Hospital with their daughter Kendall. She's just entering her teenage years so feel free to bring a gift accordingly or something for her parents, though this is not required to participate.
Date: Saturday, December 13th
Time: 8 AM
Route Leader: Donavan Lacy
Meeting Location: Utica Volunteer Fire Department located at 3860 Academy St, Utica, PA 16362
Distance: 2-4 miles
Difficulty: Moderate (yes, Kraft Hill will be involved if it's safe enough to traverse)
Cost: Free
Children and leashed pets are welcome.
Essentials to bring: A gift for the Fliers, water, appropriate footwear, appropriate clothing for the weather, and a positive attitude.
No ruck? No problem! Walkers are always welcome to join us with zero shame. Empty backpacks work too! We all carry different weights according to our personal fitness goals.
Rucking is a form of physical activity that involves walking with a loaded backpack (or ‘rucksack’) over various distances and terrains. (Plate carriers and sandbags are also welcome.) A moderate amount of added weight can produce the same stimulus and metabolic benefit as running, while also strengthening the legs and lower back. Rucking is similar to hiking and is often used as conditioning by backcountry hunters, endurance athletes, and those in the military and emergency services.
Please click ‘Going’ if you plan to be there and share the event with your friends and family. Let’s make this a great community experience!
