The community grief tending circles are held to create spaces for small groups to learn the language of ritual and function as a place to bring our sorrows as this world becomes increasingly heavy. In these circles Hannah will lead the group in embodiment practices, gentle movement, healing songs, and writing practices. These circles are highly participatory and provide a place for a direct experience of ways to tend to the grief you carry.
Ritual is a way that we signal to our bodies and brains that we are stepping out of ordinary, everyday thinking and acting. Through use of prayer, symbolic offerings, and movements we create a way to enter into this sacred state of being that our souls know and recognize. Hannah has been trained and has experience in creating this choreography. She is honored to co-create with all that wish to participate.
In community grief ritual we intentionally work to soften, open, and tend to the sorrows, hurt, and frustrations held individually and collectively. We tend to these experiences to keep the healthy flow of our compassionate hearts open. Untended, these human experiences can calcify and stagnate, becoming barriers. This work allows us to continue to show up whole heartedly for the entire experience of this life.
We meet in the lower level of Grace Lutheran Church located at 5201 Urbandale Ave, Des Moines, IA 50310. Registration is necessary for these small group gatherings limited to 6 participants.
