Welcome to the inaugural CU Tango Music Workshop!
The CU Tango Music Workshop brings together students and Argentine Tango professionals from around the world for an immersive educational experience in the heart of Urbana, IL.
Each day will provide a variety of activities, including classes, small ensemble coachings, orquesta típica rehearsals, and more.
Led by Julian Peralta, our world renowned instructor lineup includes Rodrigo Avalos for bandoneon, Christine Brebes for strings, Maximiliano Larrea for guitar, and Sumi Lee for piano. Learn more about the instructors here:

Eligibility:
Open to adults and youth ages 12+ on voice, strings, guitar, piano, and bass
The CU Tango Music Workshop welcomes musicians of all levels and stylistic backgrounds. Experienced tango musicians come to learn from maestros and share ideas with other musicians from around the world, and those newer to tango are immersed in classes designed to develop their understanding of tango music and instrumental techniques. Musicians participate in a variety of group classes and ensembles, some of which are matched by level of tango and playing experience and some which are mixed.
All participants are asked to submit a recording in order to ensure that they are assigned music that will serve their tango music development. Information about this will be sent after registration. For questions, email
