Flourishing Waterways � Our native riparian plantings from 2023 have really started to thrive this winter, visible as you drive past the farm, or walking the local farm trail loop.
These native seedlings planted alongside the river, act like living sponges, slowing any farm runoff, filtering nutrients, anchoring soil and shading the water so that beneficial invertebrates & life forms can thrive. Creating cleaner water, richer habitat and less flooding downstream.
Keen to get involved? We have a few tree planting events coming up this season:
🌳 TREE PLANTING DAYS
- Sat 16th Aug 10am - 3pm
- Sat 6th Sep 10am - 3pm with @forestandbirdwellington
EVENT DETAILS
- Meet at 10am, 298 Whitemans Valley Road, Upper Hutt.
- We will walk 5-10mins to our planting site near te Awa o Mangaroa / the Mangaroa river.
- Come for a short time, or a long time, and join us for a kai and refreshments at 2pm after the mahi is complete.
BRING WITH YOU
- A Jacket and warm clothes - be prepared for a range of weather
- Boots or stout shoes
- Gloves - if you have them
- A spade if you have one
- Water bottle
