Our summer hiatus is over! Join our first work day of Fall 2025 at Penfield African American Cemetery. We'll be cleaning up fallen trees and debris, improving access to the cemetery, and documenting grave sites! Weather may be hot, so we'll work at a reasonable pace with lots of rest and hydration!
This project is a collaboration between Historic Rural Churches of Georgia, Greene County African American Museum (GCAAM), Mercer University, Pitts Theology Library, and Clemson University.
👉🏼 Notes for Attendees:
- Please dress for the weather with outdoor clothes including long pants, work or hiking boots, and gloves.
- We suggest bringing lunch and plenty of drinking water for yourself (some snacks will be available).
- We will have some rakes and other tools but feel free to bring yours
- We generally assemble in rain or shine and work as much as possible
