Samostatný pořad věnovaný seniorským souborům vychází z tradice festivalu Senioři v Petrově-Plžích, jehož první ročník se uskutečnil v roce 2001. Od té doby počet seniorských souborů v českých zemích i na Slovensku výrazně narostl.

Proto na letošní Strážnici dostávají senioři prostor ve vlastním pořadu. Vybrány byly kolektivy, které reprezentují jednotlivé regiony.
