The sea is a central element in Aliki Christoforou's photographic work, through which she explores notions such as memory, mourning, ghosts, and anamnesis. She creates gum bichromate prints of the Mediterranean Sea using her own blood, mirroring that shed by migrants attempting to cross it.
Ethel Lellouche uses the medium of textiles in reverse. The technique of tapestry is slow and tedious, yet the artist works instinctively and without any tapestry cartoon, following her inspiration. She unfolds her works in volume, and improvisation allows her tapestries to bear witness to the present moment.
Aliki Christoforou & Ethel Lellouche explore the notions of memory and temporality through their works based on experimentation with the photographic and textile mediums. The two artists invite us to grasp the temporary nature of our passage on earth and the links we maintain from this position with the present, the past, and the future.

La mer est un élément central au coeur du travail photographique d’Aliki Christoforou, à travers lequel elle explore des notions telles que la mémoire, le deuil, le fantôme, l’anamnèse. Elle réalise des tirages à la gomme bichromatée de la mer méditerranée avec son propre sang, à l’image de celui versé par les migrants qui tentent de la traverser.
Ethel Lellouche utilise le médium textile à rebours. La technique de la tapisserie est lente et fastidieuse, cependant l’artiste travaille de manière instinctive et sans carton, au gré de son inspiration. Elle déploie ses oeuvres en volume et l’improvisation permet à ses tapisseries de témoigner de l’instant présent.
Aliki Christoforou & Ethel Lellouche explorent les notions de mémoire et de temporalité à travers leurs œuvres à partir de l’expérimentation du médium photographique et textile. Les deux artistes nous invitent ainsi à saisir l’aspect temporaire de notre passage sur terre et les liens que nous entretenons depuis cette position avec le présent, le passé et le futur.
