Starlite Pulp is bringing Daniel Pyne’s acclaimed neo-noir crime novel Twentynine Palms back to the shelves this summer, fifteen years after its original release. This new edition, featuring striking cover art by Ryan Snowden, re-introduces readers to one of the most brutal, sunburned thrillers to come out of Southern California’s desert noir tradition.
The official book launch will take place on Saturday, August 9, from 5 to 7 PM at , located in Tin Town by Kitchen in the Desert (6427 Mesquite Avenue, Twentynine Palms, CA). Author Daniel Pyne will be in attendance for a reading, book signing, and conversation about the novel’s enduring appeal and its second life thanks to Brian Townsley’s Starlite Pulp, a press dedicated to celebrating noir, pulp, and crime fiction with a fresh perspective.
This re-release arrives as Daniel Pyne prepares to appear at the upcoming (November 7-9), where crime fiction and screen adaptation will serve as core pillars of this year’s program. Pyne’s work in both fields bridges these worlds seamlessly: in addition to his writing career, he is known for his screenwriting credits on films such as The Manchurian Candidate and Fracture.
“This is a novel that deserves a second life—it’s atmospheric, sharp, and as unforgiving as the desert itself,” says Brian Townsley of Starlite Pulp. “We’re thrilled to bring it back to a new audience, especially right here in Twentynine Palms.”
