Featuring Mike on violin, Nils Solberg on guitar they bring their own entertaining combination of gypsy jazz, swing and blues as inspired by the Hot Club de France which featured violinist Stephane Grappelli with guitarist Django Rheinhardt
Performances, recordings and tours with a wide range of artists (as both violinist and guitarist) including Ralph
McTell, Bert Jansch, Phil Collins, Diz Disley, 4 years a
member of Pentangle (replacing John Renbourn in the
original line-up), Howard Alden, Gary Potter. Keith
Nichols and Guy Barker’s “Bix” concert series at the
Queen Elizabeth Hall and Purcell Room and The Hot
Club of London. He is featured in the “Venuti” role in
Russell Davies’ television film “The Lowest of the Low” –
the history of the bass saxophone. Concerts with USA
jazz-stars Bucky Pizzarelli, Ken Peplowski and Marty
Grosz. A “Violin Summit” featuring Mike with Christian
Garrick and Stuart Hall broadcast on Radio 3’s Jazz
Notes as part of the “Genius of the Violin” festival in
London. He is an occasional member of Martin Taylor’s
“Spirit of Django” and John Etheridges’s “Sweet
Chorus”. A publication “Stephane Grappelli – with and
without Django”, by Paul Balmer (Sanctuary
Publications), includes recognition of Mike’s work. Five years as jazz violin tutor at Dartington International
Summer School with the Herbie Flowers Rockshop.
Humphrey Lyttelton twice opened his BBC Radio 2
show “Best of Jazz” with tracks from Mike’s CDs “Blues
for Stuff & Steph” and “Take A Walk”.

Nils Solberg – guitar/vocals. Credits include tours,
recordings and broadcasts with Nigel Kennedy, Claire
Teal, The Hot Club of London (with Mike) and two world tours with Bryan Ferry.
Performances with the Diz Disley String Quintet, which included violinist Johnny Van Derek and bassist Coleridge Goode, who recorded with Django Reinhardt.
