INTERPLAY _ POETICS OF BODY STATES offers the space to playfully challenge and surprise ourselves. The training combines somatic work, guided exploration of proposed principles and equally, set material; the training generally dives into and harvests the organic and fluid power of the body - using weight, momentum and breath. Finding our power in organic pathways, a natural interplay of forces and the fluidity of the body.
We move beyond the conventional 'division' of floor and standing material and rather move along pathways traveling through the body, the ground and space; from internal and subtle - almost on a cellular level - to big and expansive movement flying through space, as if surfing one ongoing and energetic wave.
The course is intended for professionals and advanced students.
BIO
Andrea Hackl is based in Amsterdam. She works internationally as independent and multidisciplinary artist, choreographer and film maker. Coming from the dance world her work is overall sensorial & visceral, with a keen eye for visual composition and a love for the design with light. While the human body is one main channel of exploration and expression, she cherishes the alchemy of different disciplines. She is a poet, using different media to explore & create. Central themes of her work: transformational processes of empowerment, freedom and, often, the innate soul connection between our inner psychological / emotional and outer landscapes.
She's stood on some of the worlds most important stages and has participated in artistic residency programs as well as presented work at festivals world wide. She's a traveler, loving adventure. Her work being presented internationally, allows her to travel, meet and collaborate with artists world wide. These connections and meetings are one of the most enriching aspects of her creative path, nourishing her inspiration and artistic work.
In her filmic work she loves to explore the sensorial power of the image and multi-channel installations. In this period she is touring DREAMER, a visceral and poetic journey of film, performance and music, inspired by the Tibetan Book of the Dead and our soul connection with nature. - DREAMER has won the Award for Best Interdisciplinary Live Performance at Lensdans Festival Brussels.
Her short films – e.g. BELE BELTZA, Silent Fragments & Light Rising - are being presented at festivals world wide and have won multiple awards for BEST FILM, BEST CHOREOGRAPHY or BEST VIDEO POETRY.
