About the event

Juno Dunes
Free show! Juno Dunes is a project and ‘alter-ego’ of the lead singer (Connor) and the band’s name. The project and sound are from
“influences coming up in surf culture, childhood in a beach town, and then discovering the vibrant independent music and arts scene here in New Orleans. I think I’ve always had ideas about the kind of music I wanted to make but living in Louisiana taught me how to tell a good story through song.” — Juno Dunes
Juno Dunes is self-described as a ‘tropical shoe-gaze with a southern warble… like slacker rock for yachts.’ The ‘tropical’ and ‘southern warble’ really come through in songs like ‘Josie’ and ‘Holiday.’ With a pedal steel guitar on stage, the country-influenced and tropical genres of yacht rock came were evident. What I hear more than yacht rock (though it’s a catchy genre to play in) is under the greater umbrella of soft rock/easy listening, of which ‘shoe-gaze’ may be the derivative with some songs that could be on a yacht rock mix. The show really reminded me more of War on Drugs, Cass Mccombs, and Drugdealer w/Kate Bollinger. I’ve seen these combined genres referred to as heartland, neo-psychedelic, and Americana which also sound appropriate.
