Downtowners Family Reunion

A note from Rosalinda, founder of Partners in Prevention Education and The Ripple Project:

21 years ago Lydia Guy Ortiz invited me to facilitate a demonstration initiative with youth experiencing homelessness to create a community informed plan to prevent sexual violence against youth.

What came out of that initiative was profound. It led to the production of the DOWNTOWNERS documentary made by Cole Ketcherside and Jessica Eskelson Gutierrez, the establishment of Partners in Prevention Education, and so much more.

The premier of DOWNTOWNERS in 2006, changed the narrative surrounding youth homelessness in Thurston County and went on to be used in curriculum in universities across the country.

Join us friday at ASHHO CULTURAL COMMUNITY CENTER for a look back on what is possible when people feel empowered to be Agents of Change.
