In her latest exhibition, Facing Solitude, artist Lauryl Eddlemon explores the paradox of solitude in an overstimulated world. Through a series of intimate portraits and figurative works, Eddlemon delves into the emotional landscape of “alone-ness” — not as a state of lack, but as a source of strength and serenity. Her expressive style, shaped by a deep connection to folk art and fueled by the vivid culture of the American Southwest, brings depth and humanity to each painted face.

At a time when constant connectivity often drowns out inner stillness, Eddlemon invites viewers to rediscover the quiet art of being alone. Her subjects, rendered in bold color and layered emotion, serve as reflections of what it means to find peace amid the clamor — a visual meditation on self-containment and introspection.

Rooted in her background as a painter, illustrator, and former Design Director of Southwest Art Magazine, Eddlemon’s work speaks to both the personal and the universal. Whether shaped in her studio or inspired by summers spent in Santa Fe, her portraits offer a powerful reminder: in embracing solitude, we uncover our truest selves.
