Lauren Kelly (Citizen Potawatomi) is a visual artist based in central Oklahoma with experience spanning sales, consumer lending, data, and financial technologies. In her new book, From Canvas to Career: An Artist’s No-Sh*t Guide to Going Pro, she shares the tactical story behind how she took her art career from absolute zero to gallery relationships, publication features, and shows in the third largest art market in the United States. Her accompanying suite of digital tools is made to assist other artists with common pain points that her diverse experience has equipped her to transform from a headache into a yawn and a shrug. In addition to her work as an artist, Lauren works with Native organizations on economic sovereignty projects and serves her local arts community on several committees and panels.
Lauren will have some tools for artists to take home with them that include a pdf copy of her book “From Canvas to Career”, a bookkeeping tool, an archiving and pricing tool and a printable certificate of authenticity in accordance with the Indian Arts and Crafts Act of 1990. If you have a laptop, you can bring that to download and practice tools with her assistance while there.
