About this Event

Looking to build stronger partnerships with Indigenous peoples?

Native nations play an integral role in modern society and their inclusion in critical discussions is key to creating a better future for all peoples.

This unique seminar is designed to promote a better understanding of the culture and governments of Native Americans and Native nations to create thriving working relationships and partnerships.

Seminar topics include:
  • The Foundations of Tribal Sovereignty
  • A Primer on Tribal Governance and Governments
  • Stereotypes! What to Say and What Not to Say
  • Secrets to Success: Non-Indigenous & Indigenous Partnerships

The Native Know-How Experience

The Native Know How (NKH) Seminar offers resources, insights and perspectives from Native nations across the United States and draws from the personal experience and knowledge of the educators on the Native Nations Institute’s team – a veteran group of Indigenous professionals that have collectively worked with more than 130 tribes.

Join this team of seasoned mentors to learn how your organization can work successfully with tribal communities and advance your relationship with Native peoples and governments in your service area.

“The sessions reminded me to show humility, to educate myself and ask questions about how each tribe prefers to operate. For example, our team is working with different tribal councils on how they want to handle requesting local data for health and education evaluations, and this process looks different across tribes. We will go back to the tribes to interpret and contextualize the data properly, focusing on community assets and how we can work towards long-term tribal goals."
