Mixed Media 101: Simple Composition
Hosted by Leslie Clarke of Le French Hen. Ready to dip your brushes (and fingers!) into the magical world of mixed media? Whether you’re brand new or just want to loosen up and play, this beginner-friendly workshop is your invitation to explore creativity with color, texture, and thoughtful design. Products we'll be using include Art Alchemy's Sparks Acrylics, Soft Gloss Gel, Heavy Body Gel, White Gesso, mechanicals, botanicals and so much more!
In this hands-on class, we’ll break down the basics of:
Composition – Balance your piece with layout, layers, and focal points
Color theory – Learn how to choose colors that pop or soothe
Texture & layering – Use papers, gels, stencils, paint, and wax to add depth and dimension
You’ll create a one-of-a-kind mixed media art on a 5 1/2" x5 1/2" wood panel while experimenting with your own style. Bring a SMALL black and white photo as inspiration and for your focal point. All other materials provided — just bring your curiosity and creative spirit.
