Join us to hear from representatives of Planned Parenthood, ACLU of Oregon, and Direct Action Washington County, in commemoration of “Women’s Equality Day,” as they discuss the harsh realities of the current landscape for women’s rights, the legal battles we must fight, and how we can mobilize to advocate for change.
August 26th marks this significant day, established by the U.S. Congress in 1973 to honor the certification of the 19th Amendment, which granted women the right to vote - a hard-won victory that required over 70 years of relentless activism, ignited at the first women's rights convention in Seneca Falls, New York, in 1848.
As we confront blatant attacks on our rights under the current administration—where fundamental constitutional protections for women are under siege by measures like the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act and the Life At Conception Act—it’s time for those who identify as women or experience womanhood to rise together, take action, and demand the rights we deserve.
